Getting To Grips With Back To Basics Parenting

By Barbara Rogers

Parenting can be a tough job. It is not something that you can read about out of a text book. You don't go to university for something like this, and it is often daunting. It has especially become even tougher because there are so many different theories out there, which is why back to basics parenting is often something that people are looking for these days.

However, times have changed somewhat. Children are now used to watching television every day. They will lie in their room for hours, chatting on social media. In the past, kids were exposed to the outdoors, and there were advantages in this. They were able to socialize with others. There were health benefits. It increased their self esteem and confidence.

It is important for parents to maintain their sense of discipline which can become more exhausting these days. They may need to certain rules where children are only allowed so much time spent at the computer. They will only be able to sit in front of the television at night after they have finished their homework. It is important that they are still able to bond with their kids.

It is not easy for parents to be disciplined and set these types of rules. However, when one is more laid back in their approach, they will find that kids will begin to rebel. Having rules and regulations means that the child is able to live by a set of morals. They will learn right from wrong. This should be enforced from an early age in their life.

Because of technology and the media, more families are drifting apart these days. Families don't sit around the dinner table and enjoy a meal together. Parents are on the rush and don't have time for their kids. They may not even be able to read them a bed time story. Parents feel that they have to provide for their kids, but giving them attention is probably more important than any material possession.

In a case like this, the child may become angry or withdrawn. They may start to rebel because of the fact that they have been neglected and that they are angry inside. To avoid this, one must bond from with the baby from day one. It is important to set some time aside to be able to include the child into your day. This is even possible if you are a working mom.

It only takes a few minutes to read a story to your toddler, but this can increase their development, and at the same time your bond will also grow, and this is obviously important. When you fetch them from school, it is important to talk to them, even if you have had a frustrating day. From time to time, it can be draining, but it will pay off in the long run.

Parents who are more positive and less stressed will project that over onto their children. A father who has had a hard day at work will come home feeling tense, and the child will pick up on this. One must learn what to do with the emotions so that the home is free from stress.
