The famous actress Jamie Lee Curtis, star of True Lies, among many other famous movies, is also an accomplished author. She has penned countless books for the kids, including, My Mommy Hung The Moon and Is There Really A Human Race. But, the list of celebrity childrens book authors is more extensive than one would expect.

Julianne Moore takes a big leap out of the horror films to writing Freckleface Strawberry, which is intended to glorify freckles rather than wish you did not have them. Everyone enjoys Steve Martin off screen in Late For School. Kristi Yamaguchi wrote Dream Big, Little Pig.

News anchor, Katie Couric, uses her own daughters names for the characters in a tale about soccer competition called, The Blue Ribbon Day. There is a tale to arouse the imagination, The Very Fairy Princess by Julie Andrews. It also turns out that Jim Carrey applies his genius to more than acting by writing, How Roland Rolls.

Christmas book titles would fill another book. Now Jerry Seinfeld brings laughter to the special day, Halloween. His book has that same name. Other famous entertainers writing for kids are Gloria Estefan, Jewel and Sting. They all reach out and stir the imagination of kids everywhere.

Jay Leno has turned into a dynamic writer of childrens books. Adults all know he is funny and now kids do too. Joy Behar, the hilarious stand-up comic and host of The View joined the list with Sheetzucacapoopoo My Kind Of Dog. It is a lesson in pronunciation for the kids along with being fun.

There is always comedy in the perils that parents go through. The celebrities are no different. Most of them find sources of material for their best-selling books by watching and listening to their own children. Pets are another good source.

Rhyming stories are especially fun. Following in the footsteps of the mythical Dr. Seuss are many such tales from Steve Martin and others. Children in the early years especially, ask to hear them over and over and over.

Words are fascinating, especially when they rhyme for children. But that is not the only appealing feature in these books. Wonderful illustrations cover the pages to delight the little ones.

Comedians seem to populate the list of those celebrities who write for children. There is Whoopi Goldberg, also hosting on The View and Jeff Foxworthy. The big question is not, how can they be so multi-talented, but, when do they have the time to write.

One would expect the great comedian Dr. Bill Cosby to be a fantastic writer of childrens books. After all, he holds a doctorate in education. The White House was home to Amy Carter, author of The Little Baby Snoogle-Fleeier.

Another author who resided in the White House is Jenna Bush. Her father George W. Bush was President. Her creation is Read All About It. From the United Kingdom, Tea For Ruby, was written by the Duchess of York. Queen Latifa has also contributed her writing talent.

There is no more auspicious writer than President Barack Obama. His book, Of Thee I Sing, features thirteen historical figures who did great things. It is dedicated to his two daughters, Maliya and Sasha, the current children who have the honor of growing up in the White House.
