If you want to leave this world for a short time then sci fi books are the best way to do it. The people that enjoy these books range from children all the way to senior citizens. The only way to enjoy sci fi novels is to have a fantastic imagination and a completely open mind. You can't enjoy one of these books if you are reading about zombies and witches and thinking to yourself this could never happen then you will never fully enjoy the book, you have to let yourself become part of the book to enjoy it.
However if you have an open mind, once you start reading you are sucked in, transported to a place that you would otherwise never get to see or visit simply because they only exist in books and in your imagination. If you are not an astronaut who travels in space then reading a sci fi book is your only chance to go into space and visit made up planets with aliens that may or may not be hostile. This is your only opportunity to carry on a conversation with a being from another planet. Those people out there that think reading sci fi books is a waste of time have never felt what it is like to start a book and become a protector of the galaxy defending against all killer aliens.
Anther misconception about sci fi is that only guys and nerds read these books. First I would like to point out that it doesn't make you uncool or a "nerd" to read. Just as many girls ready sci fi as guys do. In fact if a girl is into these types of books and meets a guy that is into the same thing they are probably going to hit it off better than a guy that doesn't read because he thinks it's uncool.
Women like the smart guys, they also want a man with imagination. So if you are in high school making fun of some kid because he reads sci fi just remember he will grow up to have an amazing wife or girlfriend that likes the same things he likes.
You might be surprised to learn how many of your classmates are reading sci fi books but are too embarrassed to admit it. The do not want to seem uncool by their peers. Reading is not something to be ashamed of, in fact reading makes you smarter.
