Why You Need To Become a Better Writer

By Buffy Greentree

Most of the time, the term 'first time in history' is used as an exaggeration. When people hear these words, they tend to believe that the underlying factors are so untrue. However, this really is one of the first times in history that entire civilizations expect their citizens to read and write. As a writer, how exciting is that

With the invention of the printing press in the fifteenth century there was an incredible increase in the reach of the written word and the ability to produce books. This changed the very nature of language and the spread of ideas. Now, with the advent of the Internet, the change in society has been even greater and it is still developing. More people, in more places, can write words that are read all over the globe.

As a writer, if you want to compete in this fast-paced environment, you need to be able to write good quality content quickly. If you choose to do this, you will need to feel excitement and joy every time you write, not a sense of loathing and distrust. You cannot let writer's block hold you back!

Because of this, any amount of time that you put into learning how to increase your speed and ability to produce high quality content will reap great rewards. It is up to you to do everything you can to become a prolific writer. More good words, in more places, will equal success. Putting in good words does not at the moment seem to be essential. However, it is and will become more so in the future.

While more words are put in, only the pithy comment which draws readers to your site, the engaging blog post that keeps them coming back for more, and the well-crafted short 'tweet' that implies a novel's worth of meaning will rise to the top. Competition is tough. When the technology you are using is awkward, jarring and isolating, you will be left behind. If it takes you a week to write that post about breaking news, 5,000 other websites will already have published it and be onto something new. You need to be fast as well.

In becoming a prolific writer, you need to prepare for it. You need to spend time arranging and evaluating your physical and mental life. Yet, preparation is worthless if you do not follow this up by actually writing.

So, interested in being a writer? Never underestimate the rewards of preparing for a lifestyle of writing, where practicing everyday is the expected norm? This is the true secret to becoming a prolific and successful writer.

So, what are you doing to prepare yourself for the information age?
