Issues Of The World That Are Beyond Terror

By Andrea Davidson

There was a book entitled beyond terror that was written by three authors. They were members of the Oxford Research Group. It is a group that is based in the UK.

These three authors namely, Chris Abbott, Paul Rogers and John Sloboda maintain that terrorism is not the greatest catastrophic threat that could hit the world. It is the effects of climate change that is brought about by the degradation of the environment. Actually, these climate change effects are starting to show themselves to the world.

And the sad thing is that these concerns often appear otherwise in the eyes of the people. Meaning if you try to put it side by side with the concern of terrorism, it pales in comparison. That is the dangerous part there because it is easy to neglect these issues and leave them unattended for a long time.

Carbon dioxide in large volumes can punch holes into the layer of the atmosphere that is protecting the earth from the massive heat of the sun. It filters the ultra violet rays of the sun. Ultra violet rays of the sun are harmful to the skin.

This is the kind of ray of the sun that can cause skin cancer. At around noon, the sun is at its highest in the sky. This is where you can expect intense heat of the sun but because the ozone layer is thin and tattered, after seven o' clock in the morning, it is no longer safe to soak yourself under the sun.

You might catch skin cancer if you expose yourself too long. Dermatologists are advising people to always wear sun screen and any sun protection like an umbrella. These researchers from Britain insist that when it gets to the point where in food and other natural resources are enough, that is the time when people would be uncontrollable and willing to kill.

In other countries, there is already hunger but the situation might not have reached at your doorstep yet. Once it does, the implications of the situation in national security will be a threat that is far greater than what terrorism has brought the nation or the world. Yes, there may have shortage of food right now but it is not as profound yet as what these three had predicted in the coming years of people will not do something to save the environment.

The book did not underestimate the effects of terrorism in society. You cannot just belittle what victims of terrorism have gone through. Many lost their lives and even if some of the victims have survived the incident, many of them could not find work because they have lost a part of their body.

If you are lucky, you can get across links that offer a free download of the electronic copy of the book. Just make sure it is a reliable link. Or, you will have your own shock that is also beyond terror.
