Blogging & Its Benefits For Art Students

By Katie Onson

Art, as many will be able to tell you, is the type of field that encompasses a number of mediums. Amongst them is writing, which can be as powerful as those involved in it would like. Of course, the same be said about blogging, even though many others utilize it for the purpose of releasing their thoughts in an almost therapeutic way. However, you may ask the question: what are the benefits of blogging for those who consider themselves art students?

I do not think that anyone can argue with the fact that blogging is one of the most collective mediums to consider. It seems as though there are many different blogs to take into account, ranging from one subject to the next, and each of them are able to offer different viewpoints and ideas. Subjects can include, but are not limited to, social media, gaming, and food. Even though material has to be covered, blogging is far more extensive than that.

From what I have seen, it's worth noting the importance of awareness, as far as certain sites are concerned. For example, Tumblr is viewed as one of the bigger microblogging sites on the Internet. One of the reasons for this is the ability to incorporate hashtags, each of them relevant to the posts they're tied to. Much like Twitter, the hashtags on Tumblr are able to make posts easier to search for, meaning that your work can reach the attention of multiple readers, provided said hashtags are implemented properly.

Blogging, if nothing else, can serve as one of the best journals for personal thoughts to be put down into words. It could be something as simple as recounting a key event from that day, utilizing one's ability to write about it and use descriptions which can have readers sink their teeth into them. Just because blogging can reach many people doesn't necessarily mean that it has to do. It could be meant more so for personal reasons, which is just fine.

Whether you are someone who specializes only in writing or not, blogging has a tremendous level of importance to it. One of the best things about being a blog writer is that you do not necessarily have to be an expert on words to become great at it, even though such a skill is valuable. You have to be a good storyteller, first and foremost. If you are able to take advantage of this ability, there is no doubt that blogging will have some value to you.
